The Society of Janus Presents:
Medical Safety: Presented by Dr. PP and Nurse Lisa
Monday October 6th at SF Citadel
8:00pm - 10:00pm (Doors open at 7:30pm)
$5/Janus members and affiliates; $15/non-members (you do not need to be a member to attend!)
Ever had a question about the medical ramifications of a particular kink activity? Ever wonder how to get rid of those wrist cuff bruises that are still lingering two days before dinner with grandma? Join the Society of Janus for a discussion of medical safety and care – with a kinky tiwst!
In this class we will discuss some basic anatomical principles and how they apply to BDSM, potential medical pitfalls that can ruin your scene, some ways to deal with emotional fall-out during scenes, as well as some pointers on after-care. We are hopeful that there will be lots of questions and we are eager to make this an interactive rather than lecture-style class. There will also be a break out at the end of the class for both men and women where anyone can ask the instructors private questions they might be uncomfortable asking in front of the group. Confidentiality will be maintained at all times.
Instructor bios:
Alan, (aka Vitamin A, aka Dr PP) has been in the public scene for one year, having joined SOJ right after the 2007 Folsom Street Fair. He is currently a poly switch with a top preference although he could also be considered something of a rope slut. He is licensed as a physician and surgeon in the state of California; his primary professional interests are the medical management of sexual function and dysfunction.
Lisa, aka "Anais" or "el", is a seasoned medical professional with 13 years experience as a critical/care trauma nurse, clinical educator, and hospital manager. She has taught countless courses in trauma care, skills, and CPR in her professional life. El is currently a full-time graduate student at UCSF and will be volunteering for San Francisco Sex Information as a sex educator this Fall.
El identifies as a bisexual submissive/slave having found the scene more than a year. She is currently training to be a collared pet to Dagr6 in her private life. In her public life, she participates in the community as a demo model for various BDSM classes in addition to modeling for Nefarious Photography. Her fetish work will be included in Nefarious' photography's first photo exhibit this November at the SF Citadel.
This Janus program is open to all attendees 18 yrs of age and older who have a personal, positive interest in BDSM.
